Many things surprised me about this hike.
-it was way easier and shorter than the 103 book led me to believe (which is extremely rare)
-the drive time was only 2 hours 1 way (it seemed like it would be longer)
-it really felt like Fall was upon us. Crisp air and colours.
This trail is also unique i many ways. Right off the back you hardly walk a enclosed trail at all. A nice open former road is now grown in with wildflowers and right from the start you can see surrounding views of other Coquihalla destinations.
The middle part of the trail is alpine which seems so bizarre because you did not of the leg work to get there. Rock, short plants, and a few tarns all set the scene for open views with only minor obstruction from trees.
The blue berries were out, as were the wildflowers but I'm not sure for how much longer, this hike reminded me of other October days I've been hiking.
The "peak" is nothing to speak of, but a pass between the peak and the false summit yields the best views, do NOT miss them. A very short Pika filled boulder field makes a good lunch spot complete with views of Yak, Thar, and Nak peaks.
GPS and photos coming soon.
