My favourite in-the-trees hike on the North Shore. I persuaded some folks to go looking for waterfalls in the rain. The waterfalls weren't as spectacular as I'd hoped, and we ended up mostly in the snow :-) The snow made the sights of the big cedars even more spectacular than usual.
The trail was easy to follow, and snow started at about 550m (just north of the powerlines). By the time we crossed Brothers Creek on the upper bridge (just over 700 m?) we were walking on a few cm of fresh snow over a hard crust (probably about 20-30 cm deep).
We started at the lower trailhead on Chartwell Dr and regretted following the trail back to it at the end of the hike as it involved heading uphill along the BP trail under the powerlines and then a big diversion to get back to the car. All in the name of getting another look at the cascades on Brothers Creek. Next time I think we'll just opt for the walk back along the road :-)
