There is a small amount of snow toward the end of the trail, but nothing that requires microspikes (in my opinion). My usual hiking companion and I trekked out rather early to beat the crowds on Abby Grind and then went off past the viewpoint into the woods. Although I know people actively try and clear this tail, somehow trees keep falling back down and ruining their efforts. We only met one other pair of people on this hike since it is one lesser visited.
